He said, “Man, I’m Lucky.”  2.26.02

I said: Yeah – my guy left me
and i didn’t see it comin.
I thought things were good for us
I thought we had a future

and he said, “Man, I’m Lucky.”

I said: I don’t know what
was going thru his mind.
My sunshine, my rain.
He just left me
like i was never here

and he said, “Man, I’m Lucky.”

I said: It was just a week in Vegas
(i go there every year)
i didn’t know when i got home
i would simply be alone.
I had yearned and missed him so...

and he said, “Man, I’m Lucky.”

I said: No one else
has touched my body
in all that time with him.
he had the key, only he got in.
Sleeping around is not for me.

and he said, “Man, I’m Lucky.”

I said:  I’m pretty much a stable girl.
I don’t commit unless i mean it.
He was scared of the bond we had
and then chose to betray it.

and he said, “Man, I’m Lucky.”

I said:  I almost fell into a hole
it seems like, as it’s fading.
Things don’t look the same to me.
It’s changed my whole reality.

and he said, “Man, I’m Lucky.”

I said:  My kisses are mine now
to do with as i please
i can keep them to myself
or give them out for free.
I can step away from
the wound i was in
and remember how to breathe.
I can be here, like this,
with you...right now.

and i thought, “man, i’m lucky.”
