MUSE: (myuz)  1) A profound state of meditation.  2) a source of inspiration, guiding genius.  3) any of the nine sister goddesses presiding over the arts, music, poetry and science.  4) POET.

About my symbol: I was walking down a path one day when i came upon a bridge.  It was a clean cement overpass.  How often does one find a bridge with no graffiti? At my feet lay a burnt piece of wood.  I was immediately drawn to it.  Without effort, i was sketching out what felt to be my core.  The design went through several phases, taking this form in April of 1995.

On one hand i believe names are relatively arbitrary.  Many of us get stuck with names we don't always identify with.  A symbol, on the other hand, is gender less, ageless, race less and can be instantly recognized across cultures and language.  I've used this symbol as the cover of my first book, a tattoo on my shoulder, ring on my finger...  It has become the symbol that i use to sign my art, my poetry, leave my mark, and has become the logo of my company - Muse Designs.

I have been 'the muse' as long as i can remember.  People have often been unable to recognize me on a day to day basis.  As much as i love having the ability to change my appearance, i am ultimately the muse because of my writing.

The muse is invoked when i write - and i am one with my words.  Check out my poetry section for some musings, and watch the many varied images and faces of the muse on this site.  (Yes, it IS me in every photo!)
